oh so romantical!

When I was younger I used to dream of my big day being some ridiculously perfect lavish affair that would give Princess Diana's wedding a run for its money {eeek}! Now that I'm older, I've done a complete 180 and nothing about that sounds remotely appealing or enjoyable!  When I think about it, my change in perspective really comes from a desire to keep everything much simpler. I truly believe the less drama you have in your life, the less "stuff" you focus on, which in turn creates the space needed to cherish the people and moments we value. There's something so heartfelt about keeping the big moments in your life about the 'big moment'.  So when I saw Molly and Bo's Idaho wedding from Grey Likes Weddings,  it stands to reason that my jaw dropped and my heart went all a flutter...

Ummm, hello ridiculously gorgeous barn and breathtaking Idaho country side!

Can't you just feel the love?!

Have you had your dream day? What was your favorite part and if like me it hasn't happened yet, what do you dream about when you think of it?

  1. That wedding looks totally perfect. I probably dreamed of a big wedding when I was a little girl, but honestly I don't even remember that! I am 29 now and haven't gotten married yet, but if/when I do, I want a small little affair that doesn't require much money or planning. I'm from the south, so suffice to say I've been a part of MANY lavish weddings, haha! Just seems so stressful to me now.

  2. Yes - my dream day came and went in the blink of an eye. Seriously, I think the best thing about the big day was being with our friends and family all day. It was a destination wedding and most everyone who truly loved us made the journey. We had a morning ceremony and partied till the next day and enjoyed days before and after with our love ones. It's a day that really feels unlike any other and I often wish we could re-live it over and over again.

  7. Breathtakingly beautiful. And romantic. I've had my dream day and we kept our reception very classic and simple. I think it brings a certain energy to your guests as well. The night flew by, but every moment I think back to was filled with love and smiles :)

    Beautiful post Tash :)

  8. Tash--thanks for the comment on my blog! "Bud" is not my husband, but my man for the past 8 years. We met on a blind date, and have been together ever since. We have kind of a strange life--we both have our own houses, his parents live with him (dad in a wheelchair)...but we are crazy about each other! I hope someday we can finally get hitched! I'm being soooo patient; but we love each other and, as he said last night, "for always." Yes, he was worth the wait! Love is out there, sometimes it just takes awhile--for me, I was 35!

  9. That's how all weddings should be! I love the dark clouds with the stunning landscape. Sooo pretty.

  10. That sort of thing is very popular in Malaysia too. I can't be bothered with the dressing up and running around with makeup artists and photographer teams. I'd rather be with friends and family and be happy. We cooked our own wedding dinner, invited 4 dozen friends, and had a blast.

  13. I'm with you on toning it down except I know when I get married, I will get all caught up in details that will become over the top.. I know this to be true. Their barn wedding is STUNNING, I love the concept and the pictures are amazing. I really love weddings in general and seeing all of the differences in everyone's tastes, beautiful. Not married yet so no bride tips from me but really beautiful images here!

  15. I am in love with this rustic look. And the clouds make it so much more beautiful. If I could do it all over again, I'd pick my family farm and have it similar to this. Just good old country charm and fun.

  18. Oh gosh, I'm agreeing with you - I got married when I was younger and it was a big affair...If I had to do it now - it would be way simpler!

  20. I never wanted to get married. I have no idea why, but even as a little girl I never had dreams about finding the right guy, or wearing a white dress. To this day I find marriages quite boring. I know it's sacrilegious to say for a blogger. If had to get married I would just go to city hall, sign the papers and that would be it. It could sound sad to other people, but I know I would get bored in the process of organizing anything bigger than that: dress, restaurant, invitations...not my thing. Everything has to be quick because I'm already thinking about waht to do next!!

  21. Cute idea! If I ever go down that path again, it will be on the beach with just a small group of loved ones...

  22. Wow this is gorgeous, must send to friend who is planning her wedding, it'll probably be a barn in the countryside in UK somewhere!

Hmmm, not had the big day yet, but it'll prob I do like the idea of low-key though like you, have grown up and tastes have changed a bit. BUT, there may well be a full on Big Greek Fat wedding if the family's involved - lots of relatives!

  24. Totally a beautiful wedding! My big day was in August of this year and it was everything I hoped it would be. We had it at a private vineyard in Napa and all of the decor was natural. We used tree logs and wood for almost everything and lavender was the big flower we incorporated into things like the cake and the place settings. I wanted to keep it simple. No glitz or glamour, no sparkle, just natural/earthy decor. I loved it!

  25. This is gorgeous. I'm with you (and them) - less is more. All that hoopla makes me tired and I wouldn't know where to begin. I haven't had my big day and not sure I ever will! And I'm okay with that :) Sometimes less really is more.

Haven't been by in awhile and it's so good to "hear" your voice again! Sounds like you are surrounded by lots of love during all the changes that have come upon your life...you are blessed indeed.

  30. Gorgeous photos, I love the old barn! I'd love to have a small and intimate wedding, possibly outside in the country with some big trees depending on the time of year.
