letters unsent...

I'm sure most of us have done it at some point - written letters to someone filled with all the unedited things we've wanted to say but never had the courage to and then of course, never sending them.  It can actually be extremely therapeutic to finally voice your true feelings without worrying about what results from sharing such raw emotions.  This is something I've done ever since I was a teenager and have diaries filled with letters. It's amazing to go back and see where I was and how I felt and then know how it all played out!

One of my best friends has started a project that actually gives you a place to send all of these letters.  It's a space for people to share their inner most thoughts and feelings about these poignant moments in life.  Not only is it cathartic to actually voice how you feel, its surprisingly therapeutic to read how other people navigate their emotions.  Think about how moving it is to read old love letters that are unabashedly raw and honest!

If you have a letter or have things that you want to say to someone without the consequences of actually saying them, visit letters unsent and get it out there!

Hope everyone had a beautiful weekend!

  4. I confess, I wrote one of those and mailed it off-and never felt better! It was ballsy, without a doubt, but it produced the results I wanted and I felt fearless!

  5. Wow. This couldn't have come at a better time. I wrote one of these today, in my journal . . . but then I got home and sent it. I'm totally glad I did in this case, but there are other letters I know I need to write that will never be sent. Heading to "letters unsent" right now--thank you so much for sharing--I love projects like this!

  7. Such a cool idea!

In the beginning of our relationship I had a problem voicing my feelings. So I would write the boyfriend a letter which he will then read and later discuss with me. Soon got over my fear, and we can now talk about everything!

  12. I love this idea! Thanks so much for the heads up! It is incredible how therapeutic it is to just let your feelings and thoughts out, selfishly without fear of repercussions or hurt feelings on the other end.

  17. That's a great idea of your friends. I've done that before in my younger days, the whole writing out and pouring your emotions out on a piece of paper, all the things you wanted to say but never said... feels good afterward though, therapeutic for sure.
