The past couple of days have been absolute scorchers here in LA, reaching degrees that are far from friendly {110 and higher}. Some of my dearest girlfriends and I decided to take a late night trip to Malibu to dip our toes into the ocean and feel the cool sea breezes against our heat exhausted and stifled skin.
"Lend me your eyes, I can change what you see, but your soul you must keep totally free"
"in these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die, where you invest your love, you invest your life"
With all of the windows down, the wind in our hair and our favorite tunes blasting, it wasn't long until we found our secret location. Expecting to find the usual emptiness of our special spot, we were shocked to find that someone had already discovered it for themselves.... and we couldn't have been happier about it!
"and now my heart now stumbles on things I don't know, this weakness I feel I must finally show"
A fire dancer! I have a fabulous video that has had a little trouble uploading, so I'll definitely try again later. In the sand, under the stars with the cool breeze thankfully taking away the restlessness of heat, we watched her dance around the beach as our bodies reached a bearable temperature.
"you were made to meet your maker"
As we found our way back to Hollywood through the freeways and the some what quiet streets of LA, the ride home was filled with more words and tunes from our favorite bands... and will remain to be one of my top 10 nights. ever.

Beautiful. I will live warm summer nights on the beach vicariously through you - it's pouring rain here today!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a blast! I can even feel the heat and the cool breeze off the water.
ReplyDeleteYour so lucky to live in LA, I'd really love that sort of weather right now.
ReplyDeleteI love Mumford and Sons so much, but I have to be feeling pretty upbeat to listen to their music otherwise it makes me a bit sad.

ReplyDeletegreat album and what a soundtrack for an amazing night. I too used to have a secret location for a dip in Malibu - this post brought back such a rush of great memories...thank you.
ReplyDeleteI am in love with the Mumford and Sons boys!! So adorable and I've never been disappointed by one of their songs.
ReplyDeleteI totally need a night like that! Sounds completely amazing! And I will just have to check out Mumford and Sons. And seriously- what's up with this heat?
ReplyDeleteI love Mumford & Sons. They played on a festival here in the UK this summer, and were by far the best of all groups (definitely better than Bob Dylan who seemed very bored).
ReplyDeleteYeah Mumford&Sons,
ReplyDeleteI've seen them at Lowlands (festival in the Netherlands, where I come from haha)
They were amazing!
&I'm jealous, over here it's cold...
Well alright, chilly, but for me it's (too) cold ^^'

that sounds like an amazzzzzing night :) and i LOVE mumford and sons and have seen them twice in concert - if you have the chance too, you MUST!. it's magical
ReplyDeleteOh, what a fantastic post! Living near an ocean that you can immerse yourself is beautiful. Although even here in NYC or Boston, the presence of the sea means a lot... And Mumford and Sons... just discovered them through Little Lion Man, a song often played on "car radio station" in NYC.... xo bb
