The Clingstone

I was scoring my way through the New York Times this morning {hence this mornings post based on this article} and found myself lost in the Home and Garden section {I know, completely shocking ;)}. I found this breath taking 103 year old home in Rhode Island and just had to share it with you!
The 'Clingstone' was purchased in 1961 for {get ready} $3 600 after being empty for two decades.
Talk about focussing on your relationships! You better like who you're sharing this space with!
Although the many windows through out appear to boast some of the most breath taking views.. There's no way in the world that I could ever stay here by myself... There's something about this property that's either super magical or the perfect setting for a Stephen King thriller... with no one to hear my screams!
haha...okay perhaps a little dramatic! What do you think? Dreamy or Dungeony?

  1. I think it's gorgeous! RI is such a pretty state :-) I wouldn't want to live their full-time, but it'd be a wonderful vacation spot!

  7. I think it would be dreamy during the day, but dungeony as soon as the sun goes down! Still, it's such a unique space and I always love to see unique homes. It's fun to see people who appreciate where they live enough to really make it their own. :)

  10. Wow! I've actually seen this house someplace else before and can't help but admit that it sort of gives me the chills.... gorgeous and interesting, definitely, but would I want to sleep there? Only if it's filled with my closest friends and family -- all of whom have to love and want only the best in mind for me and everyone else in the house that night :/
Thanks for your sweet, sweet comment :) Love your blog!

  11. Oh my gosh - I saw this too and absolutely fell in love! I agree that it wouldn't be good for an extended period of time, but it sure is dreamy for a bit :)

  13. "super magical or the perfect setting for a Stephen King thriller" - hilarious and just what I was thinking! I could do, say, a summer there but forget winter. I think it helps that you can see the shoreline from the house.

  19. Ms.ChirpyBird, you and I think alike! I was just taking pics at a crazy place, near my home, that I was going to post tomorrow. It's an area of old ramshackle homes about 100 years old.
This house, you've so smartly shared with us, is amazing. I don't know if I could live there either....may be a little domestic turbulence if I did ;)
    Great post!
