Delta Spirit

The earth upon which we fall is the same ground which enables us to push ourselves up again.
Reality is harsh. It can be cruel and ugly. Yet no matter how much we grieve over our environment and circumstances nothing will change. What is important is not to be defeated, to forge ahead bravely. If we do this, a path will open before us. - Daisaku Ikeda

Hope this gives you a little inspiration to pat yourself on the back for all of the things you've overcome with grace :)

I shall return with a 'how to' for the perfect fall table setting and a fabulous menu! Until then, enjoy my new favorite tune... :)

Now that measures up!

When I saw these handmade linen tea towels I immediately thought, 'why the heck didn't I think of that'? It's the type of simple yet classic attention to detail that I always swoon over... and hand dyed raw linens?  I could go on, it's just best not to get me started :)

Don't you just love this cotton measuring tape?

my kinda thumbprint!

Quite a few of my friends have decided that smoking is no longer an option for them. Yay! To cheer them on their quest as new found 'non smokers' I decided to make some classic cookies with the chirpy bird twist!
As no two thumbprints are alike, so too stands for the baking kind. Everyone has their own recipe for this classic butter based cookie and here's mine :)

The Chirpy Birds Thumbprint Cookies

1 1/2 sticks of unsalted butter
1/2 cup of vanilla sugar
1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups of all purpose flour
pinch of salt
your favorite strawberry jam
nutella

Preheat Oven to 350F
Cream together butter and sugar in electric mixer fitted with paddle attachment.
Add vanilla extract and whip until evenly incorporated
Sift flour and slowly add to butter base.
Slowly mix until just combined.  Mixture will appear extremely crumbly, that's okay! Bring together by hand and then store in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. After chilled take 1TBS of batter and roll into balls and place on baking sheet. Press your thumb into each ball and fill with strawberry jam. Bake for around 25-30 minutes until golden.
For something a little extra, top a few thumbprints with a healthy sized dollop of Nutella. Dust with confectioners sugar.
enjoy my beauties!

Half Full Holidays

Spotted on Poppytalk via Pigeon Toe Cermaics this morning, my heart did a little flip! I can imagine curling up on my sofa on a dreary day, watching my favorite cooking shows and drinking a hot chocolate out of one of these beauties.

I love how simple they are, not to mention the red handwriting makes it perfect for a holiday gift right?

letters unsent...

I'm sure most of us have done it at some point - written letters to someone filled with all the unedited things we've wanted to say but never had the courage to and then of course, never sending them.  It can actually be extremely therapeutic to finally voice your true feelings without worrying about what results from sharing such raw emotions.  This is something I've done ever since I was a teenager and have diaries filled with letters. It's amazing to go back and see where I was and how I felt and then know how it all played out!

One of my best friends has started a project that actually gives you a place to send all of these letters.  It's a space for people to share their inner most thoughts and feelings about these poignant moments in life.  Not only is it cathartic to actually voice how you feel, its surprisingly therapeutic to read how other people navigate their emotions.  Think about how moving it is to read old love letters that are unabashedly raw and honest!

If you have a letter or have things that you want to say to someone without the consequences of actually saying them, visit letters unsent and get it out there!

Hope everyone had a beautiful weekend!

kissing

"To be fond of dancing was a certain step towards falling in love." --
Jane Austen

“I fell in love with her courage, her sincerity, and her flaming self respect. And it's these things I'd believe in, even if the whole world indulged in wild suspicions that she wasn't all she should be. I love her and it is the beginning of everything.” -- F. Scott Fitzgerald

...spending a lot of time over here... isn't it just the best?!

spotted and swooned!

studio foto wedding
Okay, I know I said it last week, but I REALLY mean it this week! THIS is what I want my wedding to look like! Today's romantical wedding was spotted on Style Me Pretty... Sigh... Those of you who know me know I have a serious penchant for trees.  There's something so magical about these old souls {hello Avatar? haha} and getting married around them? UGH! Yes! So when I stumbled across this picturesque woodsy wedding, complete with bon fire my jaw literally dropped...
studio foto wedding
This photo savvy couple are the masterminds behind Studio Foto and hired three different photographers to capture their big day. Which resulted in three different styles and three different moods extracted by each photographer - genius right?!
Vintage mis-matched chairs? C'mon!
I want my Bridal party in the trees!
Rustic table settings
Cuddled up by the bon fire after an evening of dancing..
Guests gazing up at romantic black and whites? Umm yes please!

I literally keep staring at these pictures like some crazy person. Hello! You don't even know these people and you're not getting married! ahahaha

Well, a girl can dream right?!
